Held on August the 15th, the same day when the Assumption of Virgin Mary is celebrated, Ferragosto is an Italian holiday the roots of which can be traced back to antiquity. It once had a profoundly agrarian character, symbolizing the completion of all efforts put in the field work. Nowadays, this connotation has been left behind, and the holiday is celebrated by music performances and parties organized by the bars and clubs throughout Rimini.
