The mission of the Shell Museum is to keep in remembrance several essential aspects related to traditional fishing in Viserbella, but not exclusively. Thus, the museum owns the largest shell collection on the Mediterranean Sea basin. Besides this collection, the museum is worth visiting by force of its fishing tools collection and fishing-related informative materials. The small collection of boat models is another highlight.

The name of the organization under the patronage of which the museum works, namely, scaion, designates the tool used in the past to clam fishing purposes.
